UMRS 1349 at Sorbonne Paris Nord University

Wema is a PhD student that completed her Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences followed by a Master’s degree in Biology and Health Sciences, specialization in Therapeutic Approaches and Biotechnology (TTV) at Université Sorbonne Paris Nord, where she developed a strong foundation in cell biology.

Her doctoral project focuses on the role of IRAP aminopeptidase in B cell receptor (BCR) trafficking and endosomal signaling in B lymphocytes. While IRAP is known to regulate receptor trafficking in other immune cells, its function in B cells — both healthy and pathological — remains unexplored. Using advanced microscopy, biochemistry, and flow cytometry approaches, she investigates how IRAP may influence the behavior of leukemic B cells in the context of chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), with the aim of uncovering new molecular mechanisms underlying this disease.
